Boss DD-3 Delay (Version 3 PCB, from 2005)
About Modification Project:
1. Low-Cut Mod
Control: Switch No. 1
Purpose: Cuts low frequencies in the delay repeats to eliminate muddy and boomy tones.
Result: Clearer, mid/high-focused repeats. Ideal for ambient, slapback, and rhythmic delays.
2. Hi-Cut Mod
Control: Switch No. 2
Purpose: Softens delay repeats by reducing high frequencies, taming digital harshness.
Result: Warmer, smoother repeats similar to tape/analog echoes.
3. Analog/Tape Echo Mod
Control: Switch No. 3
Description: Shifts the digital delay’s bright, sterile repeats towards a more analog feel.
Result: Warm and natural response reminiscent of vintage delay pedals.
4. Resonance Booster (Awdil Shakar Original Mod)
Control: Switch No. 4
Description: Enhances resonance peaks in the feedback circuit, organically boosting delay repeats.
Result: Unique textures for creative sound design, drone ambient, and noise experiments.
5. Distorted Feedback Mod (Awdil Shakar Chaos Mod – MKI)
Control: Pots and switches No. 5, 6, and 7
Description: Gradually degrades and distorts the delay repeats.
Result: Increasingly distorted echoes with a chaotic yet musical character.
6. Feedback Send-Return Mod
Description: Routes the delay feedback signal through external effects (fuzz, chorus, flanger, etc.).
Result: Shapes the delay repeats using external effects for dynamic and evolving delay tones.
> About the RoniReborn (Awdil Shakar’s) Chaos Mods:
When used together, Mods 5 and 6 transform the DD-3 into a chaos machine for experimental projects. This is the MKI version, with further enhancements planned.
7. Wet-Out Mod
Description: Provides a separate output for the wet signal only (Kill-Dry).
Result: Perfect for studio work, re-amping, lofi projects, or parallel effects loop setups where only the pure delay signal is needed.
8. Time Glitch Mod (Small Red Momentary Switch)
Temporarily alters the delay time, producing a glitch-like effect reminiscent of tape machine speed changes (start/stop).
Important Note:
When all switches are in the center position, the pedal operates in its original DD-3 factory configuration.
Modifications are only active when their respective switch is engaged.
